Structural Pest Control Act- Signed into Law
The IPCA is pleased to announce that HB 3995, the 10 year extension of the Structural Pest Control Act, has been signed into law by the Governor.
We very much appreciate your membership in the IPCA. Our lobbyist who shepared the bill through the Illinois General Assembly, was exclusively funded this year through your dues contribution. YOUR membership in the IPCA made this possible.
We thank Representative Beth Coulson and Senator Heather Steans for their dedication to getting this legislation passed. We also thank Governor Quinn for his support.
Finally, we thank you for your support of IPCA and our legislative efforts. Without YOU, we would not be able to provide this service to the industry.
Illinois Ethics Act - Are you in Compliance?
Effective January 1, 2009, the State of Illinois has a new ethics law impacting many companies that do business with the state of Illinois. Any company that does more than $50,000 worth of state business annually (or even bids on $50,000 worth of projects annually) is now required to register with the State Board of Elections, and is barred from making certain political contributions.
Once the company has registered, they receive a certificate of the registration. That certificate must be included in all bid responses for state contracts. The requirements apply to such things as the Department of Corrections, colleges and universities, state run schools, state office buildings, etc.
The registration requirement applies whether or not the business entity intends to make political contributions. Click here to go the State Board of Elections website where you can view the proposed rules and access a form that you can complete.
The deadline to submit the form was February 2. If you have not registered, please continue to do so.
There is currently no online form submission process, but owners/managers can print off, complete and mail in the form, or email it to the State Board of Elections. Once the business owner has registered, he or she will receive a certificate from the State Board of Elections acknowledging the registration.
